We can all agree that “judging a book by its cover” sounds more than a little superficial. But let’s be honest with ourselves… Isn’t image 99.9% of a good first impression?
When we meet someone, like it or not, we judge them based on a list of expectations.
- Did they put effort into how they are dressed?
- Are they well groomed?
- Do they seem energetic?
- Do they appear well rested?
The list goes on and on!
So… It’s time to fess up! How intentional are YOU about controlling your image? Are you controlling what everyone thinks about you by giving your best presentation every day? Do you come into work fresh, showered, well dressed, and full of energy? Or do you scramble in the door ten minutes late, disheveled, with your shirt untucked and hair unwashed?
If you’re thinking, “Wait a minute, that sounds a lot like me…” then we’d like to challenge you.
Starting now, make the decision to amp up your energy. Come into the office prepared for what you need to do that day, and looking like a million bucks! You want to be the sort of person who consistently RAISES the overall energy of your office, rather than bringing it down.
Remember… Image IS superficial but it’s also a necessary part of our world, especially human interaction. When patients come into a practice they want a team of people who LOOK competent, credible, friendly, and (of course) hygienic!
The truth is, your image is just as important to the patient experience as your actual delivery of services. So start raising the bar!
